October memories...

October is over and we finished the first phase of our Walk Across The World:

We walked over 530 miles and ended in Utah!
Okay, so I am both struck by the fact that 530 miles is a long walk! And, that we still have a long walk of 5000 miles to go!

Unfortunately, we still have a long way to go with our fundraising as well.....so we are planning to continue to walk this month and possibly host a larger walkathon here locally.  My daughter in Hawaii also has plans to host a large walkathon on November 19th.  And, we will be spending all of our Saturdays at a flea market trying to yard sale some more funds.

If any of you have walked miles but have not yet reported them to me please send a quick email to rcwalker@succeed.net  and help us move forward!  If you have been sponsored for your walking in October please go ahead and collect and send the donation in via paypal (button to the side of our blog) and email me the names of anyone who contributed as well as yourself so that I can enter you into the Ipad 2 drawing.

I am so extremely touched by the few very loyal and devoted friends (both brand new and old) that are helping to propel us forward....one step at a time.   I cannot possibly express well enough with words how thankful I am for all of you!

I will announce the new plans for this month's walkathon and fundraiser soon...in the meantime those of you that are walking, keep going!  Please, also consider joining us if you haven't started.  It is truly so easy to find a sponsor and you really only need one or several people willing to chip in a tiny amount.  I know it seems like a few dollars is a drop in the bucket but it really does all  make a difference and it enters you into our Ipad 2 giveaway!

So, October has come and gone and so has Halloween of 2011.  I love the nice parts of Halloween...the dressing up, the family parties, trunk or treat at church, and ending with the rare chance to eat candy.  Here is what we will remember from this Halloween:

Maria was part of the Renaissance Royalty!

Mary was a lovely, yet melancholy, Corpse Bride

Emily was the tough yet feminine Detective Juliet O'hara from the show Psyche

Amelia was a dancing Hawaiian princess

Robertson was a not-so-scary vampire with a missing tooth

And, lastly, Eleanor was a flapping happy chicken!

Even better was that we sold costumes this year on ebay and the costumes the children wore were either the leftovers that didn't sell (and we bought very inexpensively at thrift stores) or they were completely homemade.  Yay!

I can't wait to have two more little ones to add to the memories of Halloween 2012!

  1. Cute costumes! They were all extremely creative.

Also, yay on continuing the walk in November. I've done another 6 miles so far.
